“He was barking and scratching like crazy—and he was right”: Loyal collie saves his hooman from smoke-filled room, then helps rescue his canine sibling

Lassie, the wonder dog who we all grew up with has been retired for a number of decades at this point in time. Which has left us wondering on occasion, who has been picking up the slack? Scooby-Doo is still out there with the mystery van gang cleaning up mysteries. Clifford the big red dog is still absolutely enormous and not really able to help without tearing down several streets worth of buildings, and cat-dog is officially off the air since Cartoon Network closed down.

But as you will find out in this story, there is another doggo who has been keeping hoomans safe since Lassie's departure, and he has requested to remain anonymous as he does not want the whole Hollywood circus turning up at his door. But his achievements are no less than those of Lassie, and we are truly grateful to have him on this planet.

If we were this doggo’s pawrents and had enough hero stories about him, such as to necessitate referencing the first of many times that our darling doggo has saved lives, we would be setting up television shows, documentaries, movies to replace the original Lassie collection.     then I heard him scratching on a door. So naturally I went to investigate. I found out he was at my bedroom door, and when I opened it, my room was full of smoke. My bearded dragons heat lamp fitting had come loose, and the bulb was pointing at the back of his wooden home - it was burning through.

    I was able to turn off the light, take him out and put him somewhere else while the smoke cleared, and repair the fitting. The bearded dragon died last year aged 13 - he would have died so much younger if it wasn't for my dog, and perhaps even worse would have happened.

    He even helped out our Jack Russell who had become tangled up at the end of the garden (his collar became caught). He did the classic running back and forth til we followed him, and led us to poor little Charlie stuck. He's a hero

    tommy1303 This was years ago but one day my dog was sleeping in my grandmother's room. He suddenly started barking out of nowhere. He found that there was a snake in the room and started growling at it. There was a farm near our house. Luckily no one got hurt and snake was taken away. Dogs are very sharp and are able to sense it.

    husband called 911, and dragged out my elderly neighbors. Turns out they were hoarders and didn't have any working smoke detectors. Brick (and my awesome husband and son) saved their lives. The house is a total loss.
